Starting April with Rain

We had 19 mm (0.75 inches) of rain yesterday, the first day of April. No need to water the plants this morning!

The most conspicuous system on the Caribbean Synoptic chart this morning is the low pressure region over Columbia. No ITCZ in sight so far.

That low pressure is probably responsible for the predicted storms in the Gulf of Panama today.

You can see heavy clouds in that region in the current satellite image.

From the looks of things, then, we in Chiriqui may have showers this afternoon, but they’ll be local, not related to any large system.
