El Niño and Panama

When we moved to Panama, it took awhile to get used to the weather patterns and then awhile longer to begin to understand why the weather was the way it was. In 2006 I began putting together my thoughts on what was going on, and I published those ideas in three parts in my blog A Neotropical Savanna.

El Niño and Panama, Part 1 was originally published on October 8, 2006.

El Niño and Panama, Part 2. The Doldrums was published on December 19, 2006.

El Niño and Panama, Part 3 was published on February 13, 2007.

All three parts are reproduced here as written. As I continue to learn about Panama’s climate, my thoughts are evolving and I’ll no doubt put together an update at some time. But the principles discussed in these early papers have not changed.
